OUR FITNESS PROGRAMS

At Synergy, we believe fitness is not simply about sweating and wearing yourself out. We want you to do something good for your body, not just feel like you have. And we want you to move better, so that if there is ever time that you are forced to use the self-defense skills we teach you, you will be able to. Efficiently and effectively.

Functional fitness is not about aesthetics (although, losing weight and looking better are pleasant by-products). It’s about training and strengthening your muscles to help you do everyday activities safely and efficiently; to improve your quality of life.

Bodyweight Training

Bodyweight fitness programming consists of a variety of gross motor movements, often rhythmical, generally without using equipment or apparatus. Bodyweight fitness is very different from, and generally safer than, CrossFit and Olympic-style weight lifting. It is intended to increase body strength, fitness and flexibility through movements such as pulling or pushing yourself up, bending, jumping, or swinging, using only one's body weight for resistance. They are usually conducted in concert with stretches. When performed vigorously and with variety, this type of fitness training can provide the benefits of muscular and aerobic conditioning, in addition to improving psychomotor skills such as balance, agility and coordination.

To accomodate all fitness levels (and to make sure you all get the workout you need), classes are divided into two groups: beginner and intermediate/advanced.

Kettlebell

A kettlebell is a cast-iron or cast steel weight (resembling a cannonball with a handle) used to perform ballistic exercises that combine cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training. Unlike traditional dumbbells, the kettlebell's center of mass is extended beyond the hand, which facilitates ballistic and swinging movements. The kettlebell allows for swing movements and release moves with added safety and added grip, wrist, arm and core strengthening. The unique shape of the kettlebell provides the "unstable force" for handling - key for the effectiveness of the kettlebell exercises.

Kettlebells forge physiques like antique statues: broad shoulders with just a hint of pecs, back muscles standing out in bold relief, rugged forearms, an armored midsection, and explosive legs without a hint of squatter’s chafing.

Established by the founder of the modern kettlebell movement, Pavel Tsatsouline, StrongFirst has a proven record with professional athletes, elite military and law enforcement operators—as well as people from all walks of life who have decided to be weak no more.

StrongFirst builds strength with several powerful tools—kettlebells, barbells, and bodyweight—and one set of universal training principles. They reverse-engineered what the strongest do naturally—and bring this exclusive knowledge to us. Through select books and videos. Through user courses and instructor certifications on five continents.
